Denizli Governor Coşkun explains with the words 'It was a single-vehicle accident': 2 students lost their lives
Denizli Governor Ömer Faruk Coşkun stated that the cause of the accident, in which 2 students lost their lives and 26 people were injured, will become clear following the investigations.
In the accident that occurred on the Denizli-Salihli highway in the Yenicekent neighborhood of Denizli's Buldan district, a minibus with license plate 35 BYZ 354, driven by Besim G., crossed into the opposite lane and overturned into a field. Upon notification by citizens who saw the overturned minibus, numerous health, fire, AFAD, police, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area.
The teams dispatched to the region first intervened to assist the students who managed to exit the minibus on their own. Those trapped in the vehicle were rescued by fire department crews. The injured were transported to various hospitals in the city by medical teams.
THEY WERE COMING TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP
It was learned that the minibus, which set off from İzmir, was carrying students and teachers from İzmir Çınarlı Industrial Vocational High School who were going to participate in the School Sports Young Girls' Weightlifting Championship. The bodies of the two students who lost their lives in the accident were taken to Buldan Chest Diseases Hospital for identification. It is expected that the bodies of the two students, identified in a preliminary examination as R.K. and E.Y.K., will be transferred to the morgue of the Forensic Medicine Institute Group Presidency for autopsy.
"THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT WILL BECOME CLEAR"
Following the accident, Denizli Governor Ömer Faruk Coşkun and Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Bülent Nuri Çavuşoğlu arrived at the scene and received information from the authorities.
Stating that the cause of the accident will become clear in line with the work of the gendarmerie traffic teams and crime scene investigation teams, as well as the statements of eyewitnesses, Governor Coşkun said, "I wish a speedy recovery to us all, and my condolences. Unfortunately, a sad accident occurred in our Buldan district.
A team coming from İzmir to participate in the School Sports Young Girls' Weightlifting Championship, which will start in our province tomorrow, unfortunately, was involved in a single-vehicle accident here.
According to initial findings in the accident, unfortunately, 2 of our students lost their lives, and we have 26 injured.
We have transferred all of our injured to various hospitals in the city.
The treatment of our injured has begun. I pray for God's mercy upon our students who passed away. I offer my condolences to their families and loved ones. Our hope from now on is that such accidents do not occur.
As for the cause of the accident, our colleagues have begun their work. There is no clear information yet. It is a single-vehicle accident.
It will become clear after the work is completed. Our gendarmerie organization will carry out the necessary work.
According to the information we have obtained, there are critically injured individuals among our 26 injured, but this will emerge as a result of the examinations at the hospital," he said.
On the other hand, traffic, which was provided from a single lane for a while, returned to normal after the minibus involved in the accident was removed with the help of a crane.
It was learned that the students' belongings were taken into judicial custody by the gendarmerie teams.
