Double murder in Fatih! Murdered İkbal and Ayşenur laid to rest

Funeral ceremonies were held today at separate mosques for Ayşenur Halil and İkbal Uzuner, who were killed in Eyüpsultan and Fatih by 19-year-old Semih Çelik before he died by suicide by jumping from the walls in Edirnekapı.

A funeral prayer was held at Fatih Mosque at noon for Uzuner, who was killed by having her head severed and her body dismembered.

The ceremony was attended by Uzuner's relatives, friends, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, and Fatih Mayor Mehmet Ergün Turan.

RELATIVES OVERCOME WITH GRIEF

Some of Uzuner's relatives, who were in the mosque courtyard before the funeral prayer, were overcome with grief.

Following the funeral prayer, İkbal Uzuner was laid to rest at the Edirnekapı Martyrdom Cemetery.

A funeral ceremony was also held at the Gaziosmanpaşa Pazariçi Saadet Mosque for Ayşenur Halil, who was killed by having her throat slit.

The ceremony was attended by Halil's family, his friends, Deputy Governor of Istanbul Hasan Gözen, and Mayor of Eyüpsultan Mithat Bülent Özmen.

Following the funeral prayer, they were laid to rest in the family plot at Karlıtepe Cemetery.

EXTENSIVE SECURITY MEASURES TAKEN

Extensive security measures were taken by police teams in the areas for both funeral ceremonies.

Meanwhile, it has been learned that the funeral prayer for Çelik, who committed suicide by jumping from the city walls in Fatih after murdering two women, was cancelled for security reasons.
