Downpour hits Istanbul! What is the latest situation in traffic?

Drivers who hit the road from the early hours of the morning are struggling to move their vehicles along main arteries due to the impact of the downpour.

On the European side, traffic density on the D-100 highway, which begins in Beylikdüzü, is heavy all the way to Atatürk Airport.

Traffic, which intensifies again in İncirli, continues through Cevizlibağ, the Haliç Bridge, Mecidiyeköy, and up to Zincirlikuyu.

Traffic flow, which is moving slowly in both directions on the Basın Ekspres Road, is heavy in both directions on the Haramidere-TEM connection road, the O-3 road in the Bağcılar-Topkapı direction, the coastal road between Bakırköy and Zeytinburnu, and between the TEM Metris Junction and the Hasdal Junction.

Vehicles are also struggling to move on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, and the entrances to the Eurasia Tunnel, as well as the roads connecting to them, during transitions from the Anatolian side to the European side.

Traffic on the D-100 highway, which starts from the Tuzla İçmeler area, continues to increase through Pendik, Kartal, Maltepe, Kadıköy, and up to the entrance of the Eurasia Tunnel.

While traffic has come to a standstill at bridge exits and junctions, vehicles are moving smoothly on the Kadıköy-Pendik Coastal Road.

Heavy traffic is notable on the TEM Highway between Sultanbeyli and the Çamlıca toll booths, the Ümraniye-Üsküdar direction of the Şile Road, Alemdağ Street, Küçüksu Street, between Altunizade and the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, and on the road extending from the Kozyatağı Junction to the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.

IMPACT OF THE DOWNPOUR ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Citizens wishing to use public transport in the city also created congestion at metro, metrobus, and bus stops.

Those passing through turnstiles to board vehicles at metrobus line stops such as Avcılar, Yenibosna, Zeytinburnu, Cevizlibağ, Mecidiyeköy, Zincirlikuyu, Altunizade, and Uzunçayır encountered heavy crowds.

Those wishing to board public transport vehicles experienced difficulties entering and exiting the stops. Due to the effect of the downpour, accumulations occurred especially at the stops.

According to data from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Pocket Traffic Map, traffic density rose to 87 percent on the Anatolian side, 67 percent on the European side, and 76 percent across the city.
