Drunk driver crashes into parked tow truck

The accident occurred yesterday around 19:00 on the Süleyman Demirel Boulevard in the direction of Ayrancılar. According to the information obtained, Ahmet Toprak (38) parked his tow truck with license plate 35 RAY 73 in the emergency lane after one of its tires blew out.

A tow truck with license plate 35 BSG 924, driven by Recep Camcı, also arrived at the scene to assist Toprak. Meanwhile, a pickup truck with license plate 09 AOJ 265, driven by Muhammed S. (25), struck the two vehicles in the emergency lane while attempting to pass a truck moving in front of it on the right. Due to the force of the impact, Ahmet Toprak and Recep Camcı, who were outside their vehicles, were thrown into the air. Upon notification by witnesses, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area.

Ahmet Toprak, one of the injured taken to the hospital by medical teams, lost his life despite all interventions. It was learned that Recep Camcı remains in critical condition. Toprak's body was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue following an examination.

FOUND TO BE INTOXICATED

It was determined during a medical examination at the hospital that the pickup truck driver, Muhammed S., who was taken into custody by police teams, was intoxicated. The driver, who was taken into custody, was arrested by the court to which he was referred following police procedures.

On the other hand, the moment of the accident was captured by the dashcam of the tow truck parked on the side of the road.

The footage shows the two drivers standing by their vehicles when the pickup truck speeds into them, and the moment the drivers are thrown into the air. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
