Drunk driver crashes into police chief's official vehicle
In Aksaray, a driver who took to the road after consuming alcohol crashed into the official vehicle carrying a deputy police chief. While there were no injuries in the accident, the driver was found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.19 promille.
The accident occurred on Alparslan Türkeş Boulevard. According to the information obtained, the Opel brand car with license plate 68 FK 398, driven by Miraç Mustafa A., was traveling along the boulevard toward the Fatih neighborhood when it crashed into the official vehicle with license plate 68 AEP 841, which was traveling alongside it and carrying Aksaray Deputy Provincial Police Chief, 2nd Class Police Chief Zafer Öztürk, as it approached the traffic lights.
While there were fortunately no injuries in the accident, the driver, who attempted to flee the scene, was apprehended before he could escape and was neutralized with reverse handcuffs.
Numerous police teams were dispatched to the scene. The driver, who was placed in a police vehicle, was found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.19 promille during a breathalyzer test conducted by traffic teams at the scene.
The driver was fined 9,267 Turkish Lira for driving under the influence, and his driver's license was suspended for 6 months. While the driver was taken into custody and transported to the Aksaray Police Station for questioning, judicial proceedings were also initiated against him for endangering traffic safety.
