Elevator with snapped cable takes young mother's life
In the Tarsus district of Mersin, an elevator with a snapped cable fell, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old mother of one.
The incident occurred in an 11-story apartment building in the Altaylılar neighborhood of the district.
According to the information received, 27-year-old Pelin Kıyga entered the elevator after leaving her apartment on the 7th floor to go to work.
At that moment, the elevator's cable snapped and it plummeted to the ground. Upon notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene.
The teams transported Kıyga, who had fallen with the elevator, to the district state hospital by ambulance. Despite all interventions at the hospital, Kıyga, who was learned to be a mother of one child, lost her life. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
