Engaged couple dies after car crashes into tree

In the accident that occurred on Menderes Boulevard in the Gümüşçay neighborhood of Denizli's Merkezefendi district, a birthday party was held for İbrahim Baran Tuncer (23) by his fiancée, Ezgi Elçin Ünal (22), and their friends. Following the celebration, the engaged couple set off for home in a Nissan-brand car with license plate 20 R 9599, driven by 26-year-old Sabri Tığlı.

The car, driven by the allegedly intoxicated driver, lost control while traveling on Menderes Boulevard and struck a tree located on the median on the side of the road.

Upon notification by citizens in the area who saw the car, which had embedded itself into the tree like an arrow, fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

The driver, Sabri Tığlı, who received initial medical intervention at the scene, was extracted from the vehicle by fire crews and transported to the hospital by ambulance in critical condition.

Medical teams determined that İbrahim Baran Tuncer and his fiancée, Ezgi Elçin Ünal, who were in the vehicle, had lost their lives at the scene.

The bodies of the two young people were removed from the wreckage and taken to the morgue of the Council of Forensic Medicine's Denizli Group Presidency for autopsy.

The relatives of the engaged couple, who were reportedly preparing for their wedding, were devastated by the tragic news. Meanwhile, the accident, which resulted in the deaths of the couple returning from the birthday party, was captured on the security camera of a business operating on the boulevard. The footage shows the moment the speeding car lost control and crashed into the tree on the side of the road.
