Erkan Yalçın re-elected president! A new era begins at the Swimming Federation

The federation's 6th ordinary general assembly was held at the B2 conference hall of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Incumbent president Yalçın, who ran as the sole candidate in the election, became president once again by receiving 205 of the 208 votes cast. 3 votes were declared invalid.

The new board of directors under Yalçın's presidency includes Süleyman Şahin, Fatih Sezer, Zeynep Demir, İrfan Özdemir, Hakan Yıldız, Güven Duvan, Umut Gözen, Ufuk Çıplak, Semih Karagöz, and Yüksel Seçkin Saruhan.

At the general assembly, where Abdullah Albunar served as the chair of the council, the activity and audit reports were also approved.

In his speech, Yalçın recounted the actions taken since he was first elected president in 2017 and the successes achieved by national athletes, stating, "Since we took office, we have aimed to strengthen the infrastructure, support our young athletes, and carry Turkish swimming to the top in the international arena. In every step we have taken for this, we have prioritized the development, health, and psychological resilience of our athletes."

Reminding that they reached a final for the first time in the history of Turkish swimming at the Paris 2024 Olympics and won their first-ever gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, Yalçın listed his projects for the new term as follows:

"We plan to establish high-performance centers in various regions of Turkey.

With the goal of training coaches to international standards, we will organize training sessions that include the latest techniques and scientific data.

We will introduce athletes discovered through talent screenings to swimming at a young age and support them with comprehensive development programs.

We will create a swimming technology ecosystem equipped with data analysis, simulation devices, and advanced techniques that will maximize our athletes' performance.

We will implement psychologist support and individual mentorship programs to increase our athletes' psychological resilience.

We will increase the promotion of and participation in swimming by collaborating with local governments."
