European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre releases details on 6.2 magnitude earthquake: Change in sea level

As of the time the report was published, more than 120 earthquakes had occurred in the region, 60 of which were felt.

Following the 6.2 magnitude earthquake, a small change in sea level was observed. It was determined to be a few centimeters. It was stated that this was not a tsunami, but rather a fluctuation in the sea caused by the earthquake's impact.

It is normal for aftershocks to occur in the main shock zone following a major earthquake. These are formed as the crust adjusts to the effects of the main shock.

The intensity of the earthquake decreased as the distance from the epicenter increased. Intensity, which ranges from 1 to 12, measures the observed effects in terms of shaking and damage.

According to the EMSC's table, the areas with the highest earthquake intensity were within a 20-kilometer radius of the epicenter. On land, the region with the highest earthquake intensity was Silivri. Consequently, the 88,235 people living in this area were the group that felt the earthquake's intensity the most. The intensity of the earthquake was 2 in Ankara, while it was around 3 in Eskişehir.
