Famous American singer Taylor Swift gets engaged

Famous American pop star Taylor Swift and her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays American football for the Kansas City Chiefs, have shared the news of their engagement with their followers. In a joint announcement on their accounts on the social media platform owned by the US-based company Instagram, Swift and Kelce shared the news with their fans that they have exchanged engagement rings.

The Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress Swift wrote in the note accompanying her post, "Your English teacher and your PE teacher are getting married." While fans responded to the couple, who shared several photos from the engagement ceremony, with thousands of comments, one engagement photo shared by Swift received more than 17 million likes.

The couple, who have been together since 2023, are among the most famous names in the US. While Swift is followed by 280 million people on Instagram, Kelce, one of the most famous names in the American Football league, draws millions of viewers to their screens during the matches he plays in. Swift is also known for supporting her fiancé by attending his matches in person at the stadium, including the Süper Bowl.

US President Donald Trump congratulated Swift and Kelce, who are among the country's most famous names in music and sports respectively, on their engagement. When asked by reporters about the matter during a cabinet meeting, Trump said, "I wish them well. I think he (Travis Kelce) is a great player. I think he's a great guy and I think she (Taylor Swift) is a great person. So I wish them happiness."

Following Swift's expression of support for former Vice President Kamala Harris in September 2024, Trump had made a post on Truth Social that read, "I hate Taylor Swift."
