Father and mother testify in neighbor dispute in Yalova where baby was injured: Permanent damage detected
In the Çınarcık district of Yalova, a father who was injured along with his 14-month-old child in his arms during an attack by neighbors with whom they had a feud, and his wife, have testified at the prosecutor's office. It was revealed that the attacker, who was arrested in connection with the incident, stated in his testimony, "My intention was to hit Muhammed Baca. However, the object I swung hit the child in his arms."
According to the information obtained, numerous disputes had occurred between the Baca family, who have 4 children and moved into a house they bought a year ago in the Esenköy town of Çınarcık, and the E. family living in the same building, due to issues such as noise from children, parking, and illegal building structures. In the most recent incident on February 20, 2026, Muhammed Baca (34) was attacked by Şener E. with a child's scooter while holding his 14-month-old daughter, İkra.
During the attack, the father's nose was broken, and his 14-month-old child İkra suffered a fractured skull. The injured were taken to Yalova Training and Research Hospital for treatment. Şener E., who was detained after the incident, was arrested by the court and sent to prison. The other suspect, Servet E., who had previously been issued a restraining order, was released. Baby İkra was discharged after 3 days of treatment.
"Both Servet and Şener admitted in their statements that they struck them"
Muhammed Baca and his wife B. Baca came to the Yalova Courthouse to provide their statements to the prosecutor. Speaking to the press after leaving the courthouse, one of the Baca family's lawyers, Tolga Taylı, stated that there has been an attempt in recent days to create a perception that the child's injury was caused by hitting the dashboard, adding, "The statements of both Servet E. and Şener E. are also crystal clear.
As a result of an attack directed at Muhammed Baca, the object continued to be swung and thrown even though it was seen that Muhammed Baca was holding a child. There is no justification for such an action against a father holding a child, even if it were an accident, and there is no need to twist this into something else," he said.
"Permanent damage has also been detected"
Stating that the Forensic Medicine report is also in the file, Taylı said, "The report also confirms that there is serious and permanent damage to the back of the child's skull. This is not damage that would be caused by hitting a dashboard. Indeed, in the footage served to the media, a video leaked showing Muhammed Baca calling 112 and the district governor's office at 18:55 to ask for help, and the phrase ‘what happened to the child's face’ is heard.
This statement is being twisted. On the same date at 18:59, a video of the child inside the house was sent to the district governor, and her face is clearly visible there. There is no damage. You are all already aware of baby İkra's recent images from the hospital. So, it was not caused by hitting a dashboard. Even though there was no damage to the child's face at 18:59, she ended up in the hospital 3-4 hours later. In other words, it is not something caused by a dashboard. There is no need to drag this into different places or interpretations. Muhammed Baca and his family are victims. They are being victimized again. We have entered the file regarding this process and have begun to follow it. In their statements, both Servet and Şener admitted that they struck them. They clearly stated, 'We did not do it to the child intentionally, but we saw the child in Muhammed's arms.'"
"He has made Muhammed Baca a target"
Noting that they will also file a complaint regarding Servet E., Taylı said, "For the last few days, we have seen several interviews suggesting that Muhammed Baca is consciously trying to create a sense of victimhood by letting the blood flowing from his nose drip onto baby İkra, engaging in 'victim literature.' This is also misleading the public. Likewise, there is currently a character assassination against Muhammed Baca and his family on both his X account and other social media platforms. This is inciting the public to hatred and enmity. He has made Muhammed Baca a target. Even while coming here today, he was subjected to hostile glares on the street and put into the psychology of a 'guilty father.' Legal processes will also be initiated regarding this situation," he said.
Lawyer Berika Kurt stated that the suspects have declared that they accept the accusations. Kurt noted that the public should not believe the perception operations being attempted on social media. Father Muhammed Baca said that the suspects admitted to the accusations and that he trusts the Turkish justice system.
"I did not hit the child intentionally"
On the other hand, it was learned that the arrested suspect Şener E. said in his statement, "Muhammed had a child in his arms, and the object I swung hit Muhammed and his child. Due to the anger and excitement of the moment, I didn't even notice the child in his arms. Subsequently, the gendarmerie intervened and separated us. There was also a commotion between my aunt N. and Muhammed's wife, but I did not see whether they assaulted each other or not. After the events ended, we were brought to the police station by the gendarmerie. I am a complainant and plaintiff against the person named Muhammed Baca. My intention was to hit Muhammed Baca. However, the object I swung struck the child in his arms. I did not hit the child intentionally."
