Father who fell victim to the 'newborn gang' speaks out! 'They took the money, then gave us the news of death the next day'

The investigation has been completed regarding the 'newborn gang,' which included two doctors and several 112 Emergency Call Center employees who not only profited unfairly by referring emergency infant patients to contracted hospitals but also caused the deaths of 12 babies and injuries to 3 others.

The suspects arrested as part of the investigation are charged with crimes including fraud against public institutions and organizations, knowingly and willingly aiding an organization, intentional killing by omission, membership in an organization established to commit crimes, forgery of official documents, and unlawfully obtaining or disseminating personal data.

Prosecutors have requested up to 273 years in prison each for the organization's leaders, F.S. and I.G., and a total of 1,775 years in prison for the other 45 suspects for various crimes. The statements of families who lost their babies have left a mark on the investigation's indictment.

"THEY ASKED FOR MONEY WITHOUT GIVING ME INFORMATION ABOUT MY WIFE"

Stating that they went to a private hospital in Esenyurt last November due to his 28-week pregnant wife's high blood pressure, Mehmet Hanifi Kaya explained in his statement that after a 4-hour wait, they were referred to another private hospital in Esenyurt on the grounds that there was no space in the intensive care unit.

Mehmet Hanifi Kaya, who was told that his wife Zeynep Kaya was transferred by ambulance and immediately taken into labor, stated that when he asked about his wife's condition, they demanded a fee of 8 thousand liras, adding:

"While I was dealing with the payment, my wife gave birth.

My child stayed in the intensive care unit for 3 days. For the first 2 days, a doctor named Songül told me my baby was fine. I did not see my baby during this time. On the third day, I was told that my baby's condition had worsened, and then that he had died."

"IF YOU STAY HERE, YOUR BABY WILL DIE"

Father Benedict N. said, "We went to a private hospital in Beylikdüzü because my 5-month-old daughter Michelle N. had a cough and a cold. After the admission procedures and payment, a doctor examined her.

After the procedures, tests were performed, and she was diagnosed with a respiratory virus. My baby stayed in the hospital for 4 days. She also stayed in the intensive care unit for 3 days.

At the end of the 3rd day, a doctor said, 'This place is for 1-month-old babies, your baby is 5 months old. If you stay here, your baby will die.' Upon this, we started looking for a hospital.

We couldn't find one, but the doctor in charge of the intensive care unit at this hospital recommended another hospital in Beylikdüzü and said, 'If she stays for 2 weeks, she will recover.' We were transferred to this hospital by private ambulance.

I paid the 35 thousand lira admission fee in advance. My baby was taken to the intensive care unit. The nurse told us, 'Don't wait here, go home.' We went home. The next day, they called and said my baby's condition was bad. When I went to the hospital, I was told that my baby had died."

THOSE WHO THREATENED THE PUBLIC PROSECUTOR HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO THE COURTHOUSE

8 suspects, including lawyers A.A. and M.K.Z., who threatened the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror and Organized Crime Investigation Prosecutor Y.E. in his office, were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the gendarmerie.

It was determined that A.A. and M.K.Z., who threatened Prosecutor Y.E. with death first by phone and then by coming to his office to demand the release of the arrested suspects, had obtained the personal information of the Public Prosecutor and his family through 3 gendarmerie personnel.
