Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby marred by brawl: Pitch turned into a battlefield

The incidents that occurred during the major derby overshadowed the match itself. In particular, Mourinho's physical intervention against Okan Buruk became the event of the night.

A fight broke out in the 90th minute of the Ziraat Turkish Cup match played between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, resulting in 3 players and one assistant coach receiving red cards.

Fenerbahçe hosted Galatasaray in the Ziraat Turkish Cup quarterfinals. The Yellow-Reds left the pitch with a 2-1 victory and advanced to the next round.

The match was also marked by fights. In the final minutes, an argument broke out between Mert Müldür and Victor Osimhen in the Fenerbahçe half.

In the 90th minute of the derby, the sidelines became chaotic. A fight started between Fenerbahçe player Mert Hakan Yandaş and Galatasaray player Barış Alper Yılmaz, and it spilled onto the pitch as substitute players and technical staff joined in.

Referee Cihan Aydın stopped the game due to this fight. After security forces intervened to break up the brawl, Cihan Aydın went to the sidelines and sent off Galatasaray's Barış Alper Yılmaz and Kerem Demirbay, and Fenerbahçe's Mert Hakan Yandaş and Fenerbahçe Assistant Coach Salvatore Foti with red cards.

On the other hand, Okan Buruk fell to the ground following a physical intervention by Mourinho at the end of the match. The Portuguese manager pinched Okan Buruk's nose.
