Fire at a nursing home in Düzce: 54 people evacuated
A fire broke out at a nursing home in the Kaynaşlı district of Düzce. While elderly residents were evacuated to safe areas, initial findings indicate that the fire originated from the batteries in the elevator system.
A fire that broke out at the Kızılay Akçakoca Nursing Home in the Kaynaşlı district of Düzce caused panic.
According to the information obtained, the fire, which started in the elevator motors of the nursing home, was noticed in a short time.
Upon notification, numerous fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the area.
During the fire, the elderly citizens staying at the nursing home were evacuated by the teams as a precaution.
Kaynaşlı Mayor Efdal Altundal said in a statement, "Thank God we have no loss of life.
We are transferring our elderly residents here to the Highways guesthouse and a hotel.
I believe the fire started from the batteries located on top of the elevator. The initial assessment points in this direction. We are currently continuing the evacuation efforts."
