First act of the new trustee in Esenyurt: March 31 posts deleted

Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained at his home on the morning of October 30.

It was noted that the detention decision was issued due to various investigations conducted into the municipality in Esenyurt. It was stated that searches were carried out at Özer's home and at the municipality.

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated that the investigation was aimed at identifying the members and activities of the PKK/KCK terrorist organization.

Özer was taken to the Vatan Police Headquarters as part of the detention. An arrest warrant was later issued for Ahmet Özer, who was taken to the Vatan Police Headquarters. The arrest decision drew serious reactions from the opposition, primarily the CHP.

Following the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and the appointment of Istanbul Deputy Governor Can Aksoy as a trustee in his place, a move was also made regarding the municipality's social media accounts.

Before even 24 hours had passed since Özer's arrest on October 30 and Can Aksoy's appointment as trustee on October 31, it was observed that all posts made on the municipality's X (Twitter) account after the March 31 local elections had been removed.

IT HAD DRAWN REACTION

After the Ministry of Interior announced the appointment, it was announced from the Esenyurt Municipality accounts that trustee Can Aksoy had started his duty, along with his photograph.

The post, which was closed to comments, had caused reactions.

ÖZER'S PHOTOS HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM BILLBOARDS

Upon the instruction of Can Aksoy, who was appointed as a trustee following the arrest of Ahmet Özer, Ahmet Özer's photos and CHP announcements were removed from billboards.

CHP Deputy Chairman Gül Çiftci said in a post on her social media account, "The first act of Istanbul Deputy Governor Can Aksoy, who was appointed as a trustee to replace the elected mayor of Esenyurt, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, was to sit in the office chair, take a photo, and then give the instruction to remove Ahmet Özer's photos found in the municipality and on billboards."
