Harassment messages from lecturer to female student: Investigation launched
The file regarding a lecturer at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, who is under investigation for allegedly harassing a student, has been submitted to the Higher Education Council (YÖK) High Disciplinary Board. It has been requested that the lecturer in question be dismissed from the university and receive the most severe penalty.
According to the information obtained, the incident took place during the 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Faculty of Architecture and Engineering, Department of Computer Engineering.
It is alleged that M.B., an assistant professor working in the Department of Computer Engineering, sent harassing and sexually explicit messages to a student in the department.
Following this, the female student reported the situation to the faculty administration without delay. After the faculty administration relayed the matter to the university administration, a decision was made to suspend the lecturer in question, and an investigation was initiated.
Upon the completion of the investigation conducted by the university, the matter was referred to the Higher Education Council's High Disciplinary Board with a recommendation for 'dismissal from public service'.
It has been learned that the university administration is handling the process with sensitivity and in full detail, and it has been requested that the lecturer in question be dismissed from the university and face the most severe penalty.
