How much will civil servant and retiree salaries be in 2025? New figures cause a shock

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) has announced the results of its market participants survey, conducted with 72 participants.

According to the survey results, the year-end inflation forecast rose from 43.14% to 44.11%. This increase will also affect the salary adjustment rates for civil servants and retirees.

THE IMPACT OF INFLATION

New inflation forecasts based on the Central Bank's survey are directly affecting calculations for salary increases.

Inflation figures for July, August, and September have been announced to determine the raise rates to be applied in January. However, data for October, November, and December are still awaited for the final raise rates.

WHAT DO ECONOMISTS SAY?

Economists project that inflation for 2024 will be 44.11%. In light of the 6-month inflation data recorded at 24.73% in the first half, the Consumer Price Index is expected to reach 2,679.36 according to the CBRT survey. The inflation forecast for the second half of 2024 has been calculated at 15.53%.

According to the results of the October Market Participants Survey, civil servant salaries will be shaped as follows:

RETIREMENT PENSIONS

The pension increase will be 15.53%. However, the pensions of retirees whose base salary is below 10,850 TL will not exceed 12,500 TL. In this case, once the retiree and civil servant salary increases are finalized, new regulations for the lowest pension may come to the agenda.

When evaluating the inflation figures for the second half of 2024, the lowest pension is expected to be between 14,500 and 15,000 TL.
