How the operation against the terrorist attack at TUSAŞ was carried out: Here is what happened minute by minute

In the bomb terrorist attack on the TUSAŞ central campus on October 23, 5 people were martyred and 22 citizens were injured. The 2 terrorist attackers were neutralized in an operation carried out with the intervention of 730 personnel consisting of Gendarmerie and Police teams.

The information shared by the Ministry of Interior regarding the attack and the operation process is as follows:

"15:26 - The terrorists arrive at the TUSAŞ campus by taxi and carry out the first attack.

15:30 - The female terrorist blows herself up after Private Security Officer Atakan Şahin opens fire.

15:40 - 2 armored vehicles and 10 personnel under Gendarmerie command intervene at the scene.

15:52 - The Police Special Operations Team breaks through the turnstiles at the entrance of the TUSAŞ academy building with an armored vehicle and enters.

16:09 - The Police Special Operations Team begins deployment to the region by helicopter.

16:13 - The Police Special Operations Team begins the evacuation of TUSAŞ personnel located at the building entrance.

16:20 - The 'Ejder 120' Team from the Ankara Gendarmerie Commando Battalion Command joins the intervening Police Special Operations officers and enters through the back door of the building.

16:24 - The 1st JOPER Team from the Gendarmerie Special Search and Rescue Command lands at the TUSAŞ facility with an S-70 General Purpose Helicopter.

16:40 - The male terrorist located on the second floor of the TUSAŞ academy building blows himself up during the intervention by Police Special Operations teams. 5 Police Special Operations personnel are injured.

17:15 - A search of the building is conducted and TUSAŞ personnel are evacuated from the building.

17:30 - The area is completely secured and investigations are initiated by crime scene investigation units."

It was stated that a total of 730 personnel, including 479 personnel from the Gendarmerie General Command and 251 personnel from the General Directorate of Security, took part in the operation.
