İmamoğlu: 'To those who say I will replace Ekrem, I say "dream on"'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has launched the construction of a project in Silivri that will prevent environmental pollution caused by wastewater and separate wastewater to prevent flooding caused by rainwater.

İmamoğlu also made evaluations regarding the agenda during the program. Addressing the mayors, İmamoğlu used the following expressions:

“Each of my colleagues will work 24/7. Each of my colleagues will not leave a single neighborhood or house unvisited. There is no other way. 'Let me sit back, let me lean back, let Ekrem work, let Bora work, and let us come to power!' There is no such free ride! It won't happen. 'Let me stand a step back, watch from three steps behind, and if Ekrem stumbles, maybe I can take his place...!' I say 'dream on' to them.

There is no such thing. There is no such free ride. Neither the party members will let Ekrem be taken down, nor will the nation. It is that clear. If we work like this, if we carry the morality and virtue of looking at the issue as a whole as a nation, you will see; we will solve the deepening problem in Syria, and we will also solve this country's economic problems, development problems, peace, tranquility, poverty problems, and the problems of democracy, rights, law, and justice."

Pointing out that flash floods that have even caused loss of life have occurred in the past, specifically in Silivri and across Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “We will see that many issues that caused very bad scenes are now being removed from the agenda of both Silivri and Istanbul.”

Underlining that their goal is to build a healthy and safe infrastructure in every street and neighborhood of Istanbul, İmamoğlu stated, “Our purpose is to increase the quality of life of our citizens. This is the most important reason for the great effort we show to offer a modern and healthy urbanization model. The only thing some do not understand, or rather do not want to understand, is this: All these investments, these services we bring to our people, are not done so that Ekrem İmamoğlu can be happy. They are all done for the good of our city and for the happiness of our future, especially future generations. They are done so that our citizens can attain a healthy, safe, and peaceful life, and so that Istanbulites can live in this city with peace of mind.”
