Instagram shutdown could lead to losses in e-commerce
It has been stated that the shutdown of Instagram will cause major losses in e-commerce.
The effects of blocking access to Instagram on e-commerce have begun to come to the fore.
Emre Ekmekçi, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETİD), announced that 10 percent of the total e-commerce volume in Turkey is conducted on social media platforms.
Ekmekçi stated that e-commerce transactions conducted via social media amount to 930 million TL daily. Pointing out that this volume could be affected up to 1.9 billion TL with the traffic generated by influencers, he used the following expressions
"We know that 10 percent of total e-commerce is conducted on social media. The closure of a major platform like Instagram could cause this volume to be significantly affected.''
''However, these losses will not disappear entirely; they may shift to other platforms or to a different time,' he said.
