Israel continues to advance in Syria: 25 kilometers to Damascus...

Seizing the opportunity of the transition period in Syria, Israel has begun launching attacks on various regions of the country.

The Israeli army is conducting operations under the pretext of "preventing critical weapons from falling into the hands of rebels," targeting a facility in Damascus linked to chemical weapons production and air defense systems in Latakia. Furthermore, expanding its occupation of the Golan Heights, the Israeli army has advanced to approximately 25 kilometers southwest of Damascus.

Following the collapse of the Ba'ath regime in Syria and Bashar al-Assad's flight to Russia, Israel has accelerated its military operations during the ensuing transition process. The Israeli Air Force has struck more than 300 military targets on Syrian territory, and an attack in southern Syria reached a distance of just 25 kilometers from Damascus.

In the airstrikes carried out on the Syrian city of Latakia, strategically important air defense facilities were targeted. At the same time, Israel has launched attacks on Syrian army tanks, aircraft, and helicopters with the aim of preventing Hezbollah from acquiring weapons.

While Israel's airstrikes also included the Qamishli Military Airport in northeastern Syria, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that for the first time in 50 years, Israel has attacked all of Syria's airbases. Additionally, Israel struck a facility linked to chemical weapons production in the Barzeh district of Damascus and targeted an arms depot near Adra.

In a letter sent to the UN, Israel stated that its operations were solely aimed at protecting its security and that it was not involved in the armed conflicts within Syria.
