Journalist Güneri Civaoğlu's inheritance causes family rift

The inheritance of veteran journalist Güneri Civaoğlu, who passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 85, has caused a major crisis within his family.

While Civaoğlu stated in two wills signed 32 years apart that he left his entire estate to his wife, Canan Civaoğlu, 4 heirs have opposed this decision.

According to the report in Akşam, following Civaoğlu's passing, his legal heirs are his wife Canan Civaoğlu, his nephews Mehmet Selim Molu and Hayri Molu, and the children of Nadir Uluğbay, Ragıp Kemal Uluğbay and Güneri Kerim Uluğbay.

'HE MADE THE WILL DUE TO PRESSURE'

It was stated in the two wills dated 1987 and 2019, which were opened at the Istanbul 13th Civil Court of Peace, that Civaoğlu left all his assets to his wife.

The 4 heirs, who claim that Civaoğlu was forced to make these wills due to threats and pressure from his wife, have filed a lawsuit for the 'cancellation of the will.'

In the petition, the nephews stated, "Although Güneri and his wife Canan Civaoğlu were officially married, they have been living apart for many years. Their marriage is essentially an agreement on paper."
