Kübra's killers logged into her social media account to make it look like she was alive: 'We thought she was alive because of this'

The body of 30-year-old Kübra Yapıcı, who lived in Antalya and had been missing since April 30, was found burned last night as a result of work carried out by teams. Investigations revealed that Yapıcı had been killed with a firearm and buried, and was subsequently removed from where she was buried and burned.

While İlyas Umut D. confessed to the incident, Ataberk S. was also taken into custody by teams during an operation carried out at night. In the investigation launched by the Bucak Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the weapon used in the murder was found in the Ağlasun district of Burdur, and a portion of Yapıcı's body was found in a dam in the Korkuteli district of Antalya.

Suspects arrested

Suspects İlyas Umut D. and Ataberk S. were referred to the courthouse today with a request for arrest following their procedures at the police station. The 2 murder suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before on charges of "intentional killing against a woman" and sent to prison.

Mother and father provided DNA samples

The Yapıcı family arrived at the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute at noon to collect their daughter's body. The mother and father, who provided DNA samples for the identification of their daughter whose body integrity had been compromised, appeared extremely distraught.

Following the collection of the samples, Kübra Yapıcı's father and mother were taken to the police station to give statements. While procedures at the forensic morgue were ongoing, father Yunus Yapıcı made exclusive statements to İHA cameras.

"I want whoever is most involved in this to receive the highest penalty"

Stating that his heart is burning, Yapıcı demanded that penalties for the murder of women and children be increased. Yapıcı said, "Such monsters should not be walking around. No one's child's life should be this cheap. They should never see the light of day again.

At the very least, I want the death penalty for the killers of women and children. There should be no effective remorse for a planned murder. I want whoever is involved in this to receive the highest penalty," he said.

"Did I raise her so they could kill her? I kept watch at night so my daughter wouldn't get cold"

Thanking the entire Turkish public and the authorities, father Yapıcı said, "I cannot look at the news, but they tell me. I want to thank the Turkish public and our authorities for their support. I want this support to continue and not be forgotten from now on. Because it cannot go on like this, it will not. A solution must be found for this. Only those who experience this pain know it. Everyone should empathize and make decisions accordingly. I didn't sleep for nights during her childhood, I kept watch. I covered her up and raised her so she wouldn't get cold. Did I raise her for this? Only those who live through this know. Everyone should put their own child before their eyes and make decisions accordingly. My only request is that even those with the slightest involvement be given at least an aggravated life sentence," he said.

"Why did he mark the place where he put the gun?"

Evaluating the fact that the location where the murder weapon was hidden had been marked, Yapıcı said, "Why did he mark the location of the weapon where he buried it? He would take it out when he forgot, so he put a mark. This means he had the intention for a second time. It's a pity, everyone does not raise their child for these people. This tears a person's heart apart. We don't know what to do. We have lost our minds. Today it is me, tomorrow it is you. We must stop this together. May all of Turkey be well, may God be pleased with them all. The public and the state must end this hand in hand."

"They liked posts on her Instagram, we thought she was alive"

Father Yapıcı, claiming that the murder was committed in a planned manner, said, "On the evening of the morning we received the news, we saw logins and likes on her Instagram. We were relieved, thinking 'she is alive.' However, they were the ones who logged in and made those posts. We thought if she logged into her social media account, she must be alive, but the next morning we received the news of her death.

They tried over 60 times to unlock my child's phone password. And they say she has debts. The child is not penniless to take money from you. You did this to empty the child's IBAN. I don't know if they got the money or not, but I heard that they tried and couldn't do it," he stated.

"She had an 80 thousand lira watch on her arm"

Stating that his daughter bought a watch for 80 thousand liras last year and that it is also missing, Yapıcı said, "She had a watch on her arm that she bought for 80 thousand liras last year, it's gone. That means they took that too. She had a bag, it's also gone, maybe there was money in it, that's why they took that too," he said.

Finally, expressing that his daughter was very soft-hearted, Yunus Yapıcı concluded his words by saying, "She would see a child at the market and buy them something. She would do the same if she saw an elderly person. This was not worthy of her, this should not have been done to her. I lose myself when I think about it. I expect justice from our state and all of Turkey."
