Latest election polls released, the gap has widened further: 16-point lead from prison

The latest polls released by public opinion research companies have revealed that the political landscape formed after the 2024 local elections persists.

In the studies conducted, the Republican People's Party (CHP) maintained its position as the leading party, while the Justice and Development Party (AKP) kept its second-place standing.

In almost all polls published since the local elections held in 2024, it is seen that the AKP remains in second place.

Following his announcement that he was a presidential candidate for the CHP, Ekrem İmamoğlu's university diploma was cancelled. At the same time, he was arrested and sent to prison as part of an investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

Despite this, and even though his presence in prison and direct contact with the public are largely limited, it was reported that İmamoğlu continues to rank first in numerous polls conducted.

A 16.14-POINT LEAD FROM PRISON

The results of a study conducted by Gündemar Research between January 21–24, 2026, have been shared. In a potential second-round scenario for the presidency, it was stated that Ekrem İmamoğlu is leading Recep Tayyip Erdoğan by a margin of 16.14 points.

HISTORIC GAP BETWEEN MANSUR YAVAŞ AND ERDOĞAN

In the survey, participants were asked to choose between Mansur Yavaş and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

According to the results, 58.64 percent of participants stated they would choose Mansur Yavaş, while the rate of those preferring Erdoğan remained at 41.36 percent. It was noted that the gap between the two names is 17.28 points.

The study also asked which party voters would support in a potential general election.

According to the results, the CHP ranked first with 33.33 percent, while the AKP came in second with 28.56 percent. The DEM Party ranked third with 9.38 percent, and the Victory Party (Zafer Partisi) ranked fourth with 5.95 percent.
