Man torches car of wife who wanted a divorce

The incident occurred on Saturday evening, June 28, at approximately 10:15 PM on Kızılay Street in the Hasan Efendi neighborhood. According to the information obtained, citizens who noticed flames rising from a parked car with license plate 35 APL 973, belonging to A.S., reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Upon the report, fire and police teams were dispatched to the area, while night watchmen on duty in the vicinity intervened with fire extinguishers until the fire department arrived. The Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department teams, who reached the scene in a short time, brought the fire under control. The car was rendered unusable in the fire.

The car owner, who arrived at the scene as soon as she received news of the fire, went into shock. She stated that she had left the house after her husband subjected her to violence and that he had sent her messages threatening to burn her car.

Police teams, who launched an investigation into the incident, determined through security cameras that the woman's husband, B.S., approached the vehicle with a plastic crate and flammable material in his hands, set the car on fire, and then fled the scene. B.S. was taken into custody by police teams and brought to the police station.

The footage, recorded moment by moment by the cameras, shows the individual arriving at the location of the car with plastic materials in his hands, setting the car on fire, and subsequently leaving the area. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
