Message from fugitive criminal to the woman whose face he slashed: 'I seek your forgiveness'

The incident occurred on December 23, 2021, on Kurtuluş Street in the central Seyhan district. Allegedly, 29-year-old Sara Bekir, a Syrian national and mother of one, had separated from Serkan T., with whom she had lived under a religious marriage for 3 years.

However, Serkan T., who constantly threatened and followed Sara Bekir, entered the hotel where the young woman was hiding on December 23 with an iron rod and attacked her.

Serkan T. followed the woman as she fled in a desperate attempt to save herself, and then slashed Sara Bekir's face and arms with a knife. While the injured woman was taken to the hospital, Serkan T. was detained and subsequently arrested by the court following his statement.

SHE DROPPED THE CHARGES, HE WAS RELEASED

Allegedly, Sara Bekir, who received threats this time from Serkan T.'s family, dropped her complaint, and after a while, Serkan T. was released from prison.

THREATS CONTINUED, HE WAS ARRESTED AGAIN

However, despite the years that had passed, Serkan T.'s threats against Sara Bekir continued, leading the young woman to file a complaint again last year, and the court arrested Serkan T. and sent him to prison.

HE ESCAPED FROM PRISON

In recent days, Serkan T. escaped from prison and began sending messages to the young woman, saying, 'I am seeking your forgiveness; I look out the hotel window and wonder if Sara will turn me in to the police.' Furthermore, in a voice message he sent, Serkan T. shocked everyone by telling the young woman, 'Even if you go to Syria, I will cross those soldiers and fences and come back; I trust you.'

"I CANNOT GO OUTSIDE"

The young woman, who filed a new complaint through her lawyer, described the process she went through to an İhlas News Agency reporter. Explaining that her life is in danger, Sara Bekir said, "I don't want any woman to go through what I have experienced. I want justice. He went to prison, but I dropped my complaint due to threats and he was released. When the threats continued, he went to prison again, and this time he escaped. He started sending messages again; I cannot go outside. I fled to Istanbul, but my daughter is here; I cannot leave her behind," she stated.

Stating that she wants Serkan T. to be arrested, Sara Bekir said, "I don't want my daughter to be left without a mother; I am terrified of dying. I go to her secretly. I am not well; I want him to be arrested again," she said.
