According to the latest weather forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), a heavy snowfall warning has been issued for 22 provinces. Meteorology announced that heavy snowfall is expected in the Eastern Black Sea region tomorrow.
It was announced that the precipitation, which will be effective in the eastern parts of Trabzon, the surroundings of Rize, and the northern and eastern regions of Artvin, will be in the form of heavy snow at altitudes above 700 meters. A warning was issued to citizens in the region due to snow thickness that may exceed 20 centimeters in some places.
WARNING FOR 22 PROVINCES!
According to Meteorology's 5-day weather forecast, snowfall is expected in 22 provinces across Turkey tomorrow, including western and inland regions. In addition to the Eastern Black Sea, icing and frost events are also expected to be seen in some parts of the Marmara, Central Anatolia, and Eastern Anatolia regions.
WHEN WILL IT SNOW IN ISTANBUL?
With the warnings issued for Edirne and Kırklareli, snow has reached the doorstep of Istanbul. Residents of the megacity are wondering when it will snow. IMM AKOM stated that the 'cold air wave' originating from Iceland 'will be effective until tomorrow,' but air temperatures in Istanbul will return to seasonal norms again on January 16.

Meteorology Weather Forecast Expert Cengiz Çelik stated that the precipitation will be effective in the northern and eastern regions on Thursday. Stating that no precipitation is expected on Friday except for the Eastern Black Sea and the southeast of Eastern Anatolia, Çelik said, "Rain is expected on the coasts of the Eastern Black Sea, and sleet and snowfall are expected in the inland areas and the southeast of Eastern Anatolia."
PRECIPITATION DECREASING IN ISTANBUL
Making statements for the Marmara Region as well, Çelik stated that rain is expected in Istanbul tomorrow, and there may be short-term precipitation on the Anatolian Side on Thursday. Starting from Friday, there will be no precipitation in Istanbul for a few days, and the weather will be partly to slightly cloudy.
