Ministry announces new list: Shocking discovery of horse and donkey meat in hamburgers!

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has shared the new results of its inspections carried out as part of the fight against fraud in the food sector with the public.

The list dated November 26, 2024, revealed the fraud committed in staple food products such as kashar cheese, butter, and olive oil, as well as the companies that disregard public health.

The Ministry has published the details regarding the companies on its official website, guvenilirgida.tarimorman.gov.tr.

STARCH AND VEGETABLE OIL IN KASHAR CHEESE

Kashar cheese has become one of the products that stands out in fraud. Vegetable oil and starch were again detected in the "Aydil Gazioğlu" brand kashar cheese, which had also appeared on previous lists. Similarly, similar fraud was found in "Karapınar" brand kashar cheese.

SHOCKING NON-DAIRY FAT IN BUTTER

One of the companies committing fraud in butter was the "Manyas Mim Süt" brand. During the inspections, non-dairy fats were detected in the butter. This situation once again showed that unhealthy products are being offered to citizens under the name of natural butter.

Olive oil is among the fraudulent products that frequently appear on the list. In the latest inspection, it was revealed that cheaper and lower-quality seed oil was used instead of olive oil in olive oils belonging to the "Lux Ayvalık", "Ayvalık", and "Ayvalık Tarım Ürünleri" brands.

HORSE AND DONKEY MEAT SCANDAL IN HAMBURGERS

In inspections carried out at a business named "Caps Burger Bistro" operating in Mersin, it was determined that the hamburger patties were made from horse and donkey meat. While this situation poses a major danger in terms of food safety, it revealed that consumers need to be more careful about businesses.

Another striking development occurred with the "Samet Efe" brand herbal mixture oil. A harmful dye, which is strictly prohibited for use in food products, was detected in this product.

Ministry officials recommended that consumers pay attention to the brands and contents of products when shopping and follow the Ministry's announcement platforms in case of suspicious situations.

Stating that the inspections will continue strictly, the officials stated that the necessary sanctions will be applied against companies that endanger public health.
