Hyper-fatigue, while not a medical term, has been frequently coming up recently. This condition is defined as an extreme and persistent exhaustion that goes beyond chronic fatigue and does not improve with rest.
More dangerous than chronic fatigue: The disease of the era, Hyper-fatigue
Do you feel tired, exhausted, irritable, or as if you are losing motivation? These symptoms may point to hyper-fatigue syndrome. Experts state that stress, an intense work pace, difficult living conditions, and social media are triggering 'hyper-fatigue' syndrome.
A study conducted in the UK has revealed that 55 percent of British people feel extremely tired, while 65 percent of those aged 25-34 are experiencing hyper-fatigue. Twenty-three percent of the study participants attribute this situation to constant working and the disruption of work-life balance, while 19 percent link it to spending too much time on social media.
Prof. Dr. Siren Sezer, lists the symptoms of hyper-fatigue as follows: "It manifests itself with symptoms such as weakness, low energy, loss of concentration and motivation, muscle and joint pain, headaches, sleep disorders, and irritability.
High stress, an intense work pace, increasingly difficult living conditions, the prolonged effects of the pandemic, and social media usage are making the condition more frequent.
These symptoms can generally be managed with lifestyle changes. It is important to establish a good sleep routine, regular exercise, avoiding stress, and creating time for rest.
Chronic fatigue is defined as physical fatigue that lasts longer than 6 months and does not improve with rest.
Hyper-fatigue is a more severe form of this condition, creating a constant feeling of exhaustion and an inability to recover. It frequently impairs cognitive and physical functions and is associated with chronic stress, burnout, or underlying health issues.
