HTS AND BASE STATION RECORDS REVEALED

The first hearing of the case regarding the murder of Narin Güran—whose lifeless body was found in a sack, covered with stones and hidden by bushes in a stream bed on the 19th day of search efforts after she went missing on August 21 in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district—will be held on November 7 at the 8th High Criminal Court.

As part of the investigation, the indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against 4 of the 12 detained suspects—uncle Salim Güran, in whose vehicle Narin's DNA and hair samples were found; mother Yüksel Güran; brother Enes Güran; and neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to moving the body to the stream bed after being taken into custody—states that according to HTS and base station records, they were all in the same house at the time of the incident, and requests aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of 'intentional killing of a child in complicity.'

The prepared indictment includes an expert report prepared by gendarmerie personnel through a detailed examination of the HTS and base station records of all suspects. It notes that an expert was appointed to precisely determine their locations using base stations, and that this expert visited the Tavşantepe neighborhood where the incident occurred, conducting physical measurements with gendarmerie personnel to identify the main and secondary base stations providing service. The expert report was prepared based on these measurements and base station identifications.

The expert report specifies the date of the incident as August 21, between 15:13 and 15:20. It notes that HTS records were obtained for suspects Salim, Enes, and Yüksel Güran, as well as Nevzat Bahtiyar. It further records that a meticulous identification of the main and secondary base stations of 3 GSM operators was conducted in the vicinity of Arif Güran's residence where the incident occurred, the residence of Salim Güran and its surroundings, connecting roads, the school, the Quran course, Salim Güran's field near Uzunbahçe and its access roads, the location where Narin Güran's body was found, and the entry and exit points of the village, followed by a narrow-area base station analysis conducted by the team in these regions.

MINUTE-BY-MINUTE MOVEMENTS INCLUDED

The report states that in cases where the base station receiving signals from GSM calls is congested, the signal is received by the base station closest to the location of the call; when a change in location occurs, the user leaves the coverage area and enters another. It notes that in the areas studied in Tavşantepe, the signal strength of one GSM operator was good, and that internet base connections in the studied areas were sufficiently strong, with no instances of phones losing signal or experiencing interruptions in the regions studied. Based on these findings regarding sufficient signal strength, the HTS records were examined, the report was prepared, and the minute-by-minute movements of the suspects were included.

"It is assessed that on 21.08.2024, mother Yüksel Güran was at her residence at 14:28 and continued to be at her residence until 16:39 on the same day, and was not in any place other than her residence."

MUKHTAR UNCLE SALİM GÜRAN

"It is assessed that Salim Güran left his residence around 14:52 on 21.08.2024, was in the vicinity of Arif Güran's residence until 15:19, arrived at Arif Güran's residence at 15:20, entered, then moved to the barn section located at the back of the house and re-entered Arif Güran's residence, and was at Arif Güran's house and its outbuildings until 16:10; and that his movements between 15:10 and 15:40 on 21.08.2024 were consistent with those of Nevzat Bahtiyar, and they were together."

BROTHER ENES GÜRAN

"It is assessed that Enes Güran was at his own residence around 14:30 on 21.08.2024 and continued to be at his residence from 15:41 to 15:51 on the same day, moved to Salim Güran's residence around 15:57, and was in the vicinity of Salim Güran's residence until around 16:06."

NEVZAT BAHTİYAR

"It is assessed that after speaking with Salim Güran by phone at 15:08 on 21.08.2024, Nevzat Bahtiyar left his residence, was in the vicinity of Arif Güran's residence, arrived at Arif Güran's house around 15:27, was in the house, was at Arif Güran's residence until 15:35 on the same day and then left, and was at the location where Narin Güran's body was found around 16:00; and that the movements of the individuals named Salim Güran and Nevzat Bahtiyar between 15:10 and 15:40 on the day of the incident, 21.08.2024, were consistent, and they were together."
