Narin Güran trial begins tomorrow! Shocking statements from imprisoned brother Enes Güran: There is no concrete evidence

The trial begins tomorrow for Narin Güran’s imprisoned uncle Salim Güran, her mother Yüksel Güran, and the family’s neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, as well as her brother Enes Güran, who are all charged with “intentional killing of a child in complicity” regarding the murder of Narin, who went missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of Bağlar, Diyarbakır, and whose lifeless body was found in the Eğertutmaz Stream on September 8. They face aggravated life imprisonment.

Brother Enes Güran made exclusive statements to Milliyet via a video call from the T-Type High-Security Closed Penal Institution.

Stating that he does not know why he is in prison, Enes Güran said:

“I have been imprisoned for months for nothing. There is no concrete evidence that I killed Narin. I am imprisoned because everyone in the village said a different time regarding my sister's death. One says I saw her at the fountain at this time, another says I saw her somewhere else.

For God's sake, who would harm their own sister? I had one sister. Why would I harm her, why would I kill her? Give me a reason for me to kill her. These are the things I will say in court as well.”

'I DO NOT SUSPECT'

Father Arif Güran also reiterated his claim that his daughter was killed by the confessor Nevzat Bahtiyar and that the family members are innocent.

The father said, “Give me a reason for my brother Salim to kill my daughter. My wife was a mother devoted to her children; Enes loved Narin more than anyone. An indictment has been prepared, but there is nothing concrete in the indictment, there is no evidence. They talk about HTS records. HTS records from two houses away from mine could also point to my house.

HTS records do not provide a direct pinpoint. Therefore, is it right to say, ‘These people committed the murder’ based on HTS records? I do not suspect my brother, my wife, or my son in any way.

The indictment says the place where Narin was last seen is between my house and my uncle's house. Come and see, is the place where she was last seen closer to our house or Nevzat's house? Nevzat's house is not mentioned in the indictment. Why is Nevzat being protected? We are requesting the footage of all hours. Let the cameras in the Dara base 2 region be checked.”

THE ELDEST OF THE GÜRAN FAMILY SPOKE

Ali Rıza Güran, the uncle of Arif Güran, known in the public eye as the eldest of the Güran family and the family's mentor, also explained:

“I am neither mentoring anyone nor directing anyone. Yes, I am the eldest of the family and they listen to my word. But for the sake of God and the Quran, if one of us has done such a thing and we have turned a blind eye, may God damn us.”

Salim Güran's wife, Melek Güran, also said:

“I never said I suspected my husband. I went to the prosecutor's office for this, and they told me it was written that way by mistake and that they had taken statements from more than 20 people. I trust my husband to the end. Not just my husband, but my sister-in-law and Enes as well.”

Narin's other brother, Baran Güran, stating that no one from within the family killed Narin, said, “My opinion about my family is the same today as it was on the first day. I applied to the Bar Association myself at first, and then I withdrew it. The reason for the withdrawal was that the former President Nahit Eren used expressions on a TV channel that would accuse my family. I want the murderer of my sister to be found more than anyone else.”
