New car prices have stabilized: The cheapest car of August has been announced

Regulations aimed at stabilizing the new and used car market in Turkey, which have been ongoing since last year, continue. Both the measures taken and the realities of the real market are pushing citizens toward saving, and it is evident that the days of high popularity in car sales are far behind.

Practices outside the scope of normal trade that were once considered standard—such as hoarding, price fixing, putting customers on waiting lists, paying under-the-table fees to jump the queue, and forcing the purchase of accessories—have come to an end. Dealers have now begun calling customers to inform them of sales campaigns and to inquire about their interest in purchasing vehicles.

In the second-hand market, reports are coming in where some car dealers say business is going very well, while others claim that not a leaf is stirring. Although some dealers state that they sell at least 2 vehicles a day and that there are queues for vehicle sales at notaries, the quietness in the car dealer complexes does not go unnoticed.

New car prices are remaining stable due to factors such as stagnant exchange rates, high deposit interest rates, high auto loan interest rates, and difficulties in accessing financing.

Unlike in previous years, prices are not increasing by 100 thousand lira every month. Reasonable price increases are occurring due to real market conditions. Furthermore, it is considered normal for prices to change in some vehicles due to model redesigns.

When looking at which car is the cheapest, the South Korean KIA Picanto tops the list at 850 thousand liras. The Picanto is followed by the Citroen C3 at 900 thousand liras, while the Hyundai i10 ranks third at 905 thousand liras.

Even if someone who buys a car keeps it parked without ever starting the engine, they still face fixed costs. Between the Motor Vehicle Tax, mandatory traffic insurance, optional comprehensive insurance, vehicle inspections, and annual periodic maintenance, even the lowest-cost car incurs expenses of around 50 thousand liras.
