New statement regarding İlber Ortaylı's health condition: He has been intubated

"Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı underwent prostate surgery last January. After being discharged, he was hospitalized for a while longer for the treatment of issues related to this condition.

He was subsequently discharged again. Ortaylı, who is a diabetic and undergoes dialysis three days a week due to kidney issues, was also receiving immunotherapy related to his immune system. Following the recurrence of his ailments last Thursday, Ortaylı was admitted to Koç University Hospital. After a period of treatment during which he remained conscious, he was moved to intensive care and was intubated as of Sunday. His treatment is currently continuing in this manner, and his condition is stable.

Professor İlber's daughter, Tuna Ortaylı, stated, "He had issues stemming from age-related organ fatigue in general. His treatment is continuing under the supervision of a very good medical team with the utmost care."

HIS FAMILY HAD ANNOUNCED

In an update provided yesterday by İlber Ortaylı's family, it was stated that Ortaylı's treatment had been ongoing for five days and his condition was being closely monitored.

The statement said, "İlber Ortaylı's treatment in intensive care has been ongoing for five days. His condition is stable. He is being monitored with great care by a very competent team in their field. We hope that your good wishes and prayers will be helpful."

The 78-year-old Ortaylı has appealed to wide audiences through his popular culture and history works, in addition to his identity as a historian.
