October 29 enthusiasm in Mersin: Martyrs commemorated with 'Sea Eye' display
The "Sea Eye" display, organized as part of the October 29 Republic Day celebrations in Mersin, was conducted by the Coast Guard Mediterranean Regional Command. During the event, held under the auspices of the Governorship with the slogan "Respect to the Heroes of the Century of Turkey from the Blue Homeland," families of martyrs and veterans were hosted on the TCSG Yaşam ship.

The ship set sail from Mersin Port.
Governor Ali Hamza Pehlivan and his wife, Yıldız Pehlivan, chatted and spent time with the families of martyrs and veterans. Refreshments were served to the participants during the excursion.
As part of the event, teams from the Coast Guard Mediterranean Regional Command performed a "Sea Eye" demonstration with helicopters and boats.
The demonstration, watched by the participants, received applause.
Governor Pehlivan told reporters that he was experiencing the enthusiasm and happiness of entering the second century of the Republic.
Stating that he is celebrating the 101st anniversary of Republic Day with excitement, Pehlivan noted the following:
"We are hosting the esteemed families of our sacred martyrs and our heroic veterans, along with their families, on our domestic and national ship belonging to the Coast Guard Mediterranean Regional Command. We commemorated our martyrs and listened to their memories from their families. Our martyrs and veterans are our pride and the guarantee of our reaching these days. Our ancestors sacrificed their lives and shed their blood for these lands. As the generations of today, it is our duty to fight until the last drop of our sweat. We will continue our journey through history and embrace our strong future together."
Veteran Colonel Cemal Mutlu, who attended the event, noted that he became a veteran in the Çukurca district of Hakkari in 1990.
Explaining that he was happy to participate in such an event on Republic Day, Mutlu said, "They hosted us. Our state is always by the side of its martyrs and veterans. Our hearts are at ease. Rest in peace, Atam (Father), the Republic will remain forever. I lost a leg, but I am always ready to give my life for this homeland and nation."
Veteran Metin Güllü also stated that he is always ready for duty, saying, "Thank God for our condition, our hands and feet are working. I am very emotional. May God not diminish these blessed days of ours."
Martyr's mother Gülsüm Kaçar also noted that she was very pleased with the event.
