Only 3 meetings left until the minimum wage is determined! He announced how much of a raise citizens will receive in 2025
The minimum wage marathon began with the first meeting held on December 10. Citizens, who spent 2024 with 17 thousand 2 Turkish Lira in the face of high inflation, are wondering how much their salary will be in 2025. Financial Advisor İsmet Çetinkaya gave a clear figure for the minimum wage ahead of the second meeting to be held tomorrow.
How much will the minimum wage be in 2025? This is now the only question on the minds of millions of citizens! With only days left until the new year, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission met on December 10. While no figures were discussed at the first meeting, citizens are wondering what will happen in the final three meetings.
Ahead of the second meeting to be held tomorrow, Financial Advisor İsmet Çetinkaya announced to A Haber what the minimum wage might be.
25 PERCENT RAISE PROPOSAL FROM MÜSİAD
Stating that TÜRK-İŞ would not be pronouncing a specific figure, Çetinkaya recalled the 25 percent statement by MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı and made the following remarks:
"If there is a 25 percent minimum wage increase as requested by MÜSİAD, the minimum wage becomes 21 thousand 250 Turkish Lira. If there is a 30 percent minimum wage increase, it becomes 22 thousand 100 Turkish Lira."
TARGETED INFLATION OR ACTUAL INFLATION?
Noting that 30 to 40 percent rates are being discussed the most for the minimum wage, Çetinkaya mentioned that if there is an increase above inflation, the minimum wage could reach 25 thousand 500 Turkish Lira with a 50 percent raise. Çetinkaya continued his words as follows:
"There is the target inflation expected to be realized in 2024, and there is the targeted inflation for 2025. Such an interpretation was brought up this year. Which one should it be based on? 2024 inflation or 2025? The Central Bank's expected inflation for 2024 is 44 percent. The Central Bank's 2025 inflation target is 21 percent. If an increase is made according to this target, the minimum wage would be 20 thousand 572 Turkish Lira."
HOW MUCH WILL THE MINIMUM WAGE BE?
Touching upon the calculation method that has been discussed for the last 2 weeks, Çetinkaya said:
"There is talk of taking the arithmetic average of 2024 and 2025 inflation. The arithmetic average of the two years is 32.5 percent. If an increase is made based on this, the minimum wage will be 22 thousand 527 Turkish Lira."
Çetinkaya noted that the minimum wage could be 23 thousand 500 Turkish Lira for 2025 with a 38 percent increase.
