Outrage on social media over 4-year, 6-month prison sentence for Nevzat Bahtiyar: 'It paves the way for everyone to hide a body'
In the Narin Güran case, the acquittal of Nevzat Bahtiyar, who transported Narin's body, on the charge of 'intentional killing of a child in complicity' has drawn backlash on social media.
The second hearing of the trial regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır, in which 4 detained defendants were being tried with a request for aggravated life imprisonment, concluded on its third day. The verdict was announced in the case where 12 detained defendants were being tried, all facing requests for aggravated life imprisonment.
Aggravated life imprisonment was handed down to mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, and uncle Salim Güran for the "intentional killing of a child in complicity."
Nevzat Bahtiyar, however, was acquitted of the charge of 'intentional killing of a child in complicity' and was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for "destroying, concealing, or altering criminal evidence." It was decided that Bahtiyar would remain in custody.
