The incident took place on January 7 in the park next to Turgutreis Hayırlı Sabancı Anatolian High School. In the footage captured by mobile phone cameras, it was seen that a scuffle broke out between two children aged 15-16, whose identities have not yet been learned, and one of the children attacked the other, who appeared physically weaker. The footage also showed the attacker laughing while punching and kicking the child, while his friends on the sidelines were heard saying "keep going, keep going." After receiving the blows, the child walked for a short distance before collapsing in the middle of the road.

Following the emergence of the footage on social media, the Bodrum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation. It was reported that 2 people were detained as part of the investigation.

In a statement made by the Bodrum District Governorship, it was stated, "Regarding the allegations that a child was subjected to peer bullying and beaten, as seen in news reports and footage published in various local media outlets and social media platforms on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in the Bodrum district of Muğla province; investigations have revealed that the incident took place on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, that the parties involved were identified on the same day, and that a judicial investigation was initiated and the process is ongoing."
