Question on house arrest for Öcalan posed to Erdoğan: Erdoğan's response revealed!
President Erdoğan made clear statements regarding the situation of Abdullah Öcalan during a meeting with his party's deputies, responding to claims of house arrest.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a meeting with his party's deputies yesterday morning at the AKP Conference Hall, which lasted approximately 2.5 hours.
The main agenda items of the closed-door meeting were the strengthening of Turkey's internal front and regional issues.
However, the most discussed topic was the situation of Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.
Deputies directed various questions to Erdoğan regarding the possibility of house arrest for Öcalan. Responding to these questions, Erdoğan reacted firmly to the subject.
HE DOES NOT EVEN WANT TO LEAVE HIMSELF
According to Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi, Erdoğan stated, "There is no such thing as house arrest. The man himself does not even want to leave. Where are these things coming from?"
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS AN AMNESTY
Erdoğan also firmly opposed the discussions regarding an amnesty for Öcalan. Using the expressions, "There is no such thing as an amnesty. There is no amnesty for a baby killer," the President emphasized that the issue is absolutely not on their agenda.
Following these statements, Erdoğan turned to Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç and instructed them to inform the public correctly on this matter.
Saying, "Explain these to the public," Erdoğan requested that accurate information be provided to the public regarding this issue. With this instruction, it is aimed to convey the discussions on house arrest and amnesty for Öcalan more clearly to the public.
Other developments regarding domestic politics and foreign policy issues were also addressed at the meeting.
