Record fine for driver caught after chase: Failed to heed stop order
In the İnegöl district of Bursa, a female driver who failed to heed a police "stop" order came to a halt after crashing into a parked SUV during the ensuing chase. A total fine of 550 thousand TL was imposed on the driver.
The incident occurred in the Turgutalp neighborhood.
Teams from the İnegöl Police Department Traffic Bureau, who were on patrol, attempted to stop a car with the license plate 16 BJE 566 that they found suspicious.
However, the driver ignored the police's "stop" order and began to flee at high speed.
During the pursuit, which lasted approximately 5 kilometers, the fleeing vehicle crashed into a parked SUV with the license plate 16 ALT 003.
Following the accident, the female driver was apprehended by police teams.
Upon inspection, the driver, identified as Meltem İ., was issued a total of 550 thousand TL in fines: 200 thousand TL for "failing to comply with a stop order," 150 thousand TL for "refusing to take a breathalyzer test," and 200 thousand TL for "driving without a license."
The vehicle was banned from traffic for 60 days. The driver was taken into custody and brought to the police station to provide a statement.
