Scientists issue warning about 'zombie' disease

Dr. Cory Anderson, who researches Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), also known as zombie deer disease, warned people in recent years, stating, "The mad cow disease outbreak in the UK provided an example of how things can get out of control overnight when a spillover event occurs, for instance, from livestock to humans.

We are talking about the potential for something similar to happen. No one is saying that it will definitely happen, but it is important for people to be prepared."

MILLIONS OF ANIMALS SLAUGHTERED

Following the mad cow disease outbreak in the UK in the 1980s and 1990s, which was caused by feeding cattle infected meat and bone meal, exactly 4.4 million cattle were culled.
