Second trial in Narin Güran murder case! Prison sentences requested for 15 people

Following the main case file regarding the Narin Güran murder, the first hearing of the trial opened against 15 people, including 3 children dragged into crime, for the charge of "aiding and abetting a criminal" will be held on Monday, April 14, at the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance.

As a result of the investigation conducted into the charge of "aiding and abetting a criminal" regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, who was killed on August 21, 2024, in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of Diyarbakır's central Bağlar district, two separate indictments were prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against 15 people, 6 of whom are in custody and 3 of whom are children dragged into crime.

SECOND TRIAL BEGINS

The case opened against children dragged into crime R.A. (16), M.G. (16), and I.K. (17) at the 2nd Juvenile Court was later merged with the case opened at the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance against Birsen, Fuat, and Maşallah Güran; Salim Güran's worker Mehmet Selim Atasoy, Mehmet Şevket Kaya, Muhammed Kaya, Şeyma Kaya, Hediye Güran, İbrahim Halil Güran, Barış Güran, Kurtuluş Güran, and Ömer Faruk Güran.

The hearing of the merged case will begin on Monday, April 14, at the Diyarbakır 17th Criminal Court of First Instance.

The defendants are being tried for the crime of "aiding and abetting a criminal" with a requested prison sentence of 6 months to 5 years each. For the children dragged into crime, a sentence of 4 months to 3 years and 4 months is requested.

WHAT HAPPENED?

A verdict was announced on December 28, 2024, in the trial opened regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran, whose body was found in the Eğertutmaz Stream on September 8, 19 days after she was reported missing in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood of the Bağlar district.

For the crime of "intentional killing of a child in complicity," Narin’s mother Yüksel Güran, her uncle Salim Güran, and her brother Enes Güran were sentenced to "aggravated life imprisonment," while their neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, who carried Narin’s lifeless body to the stream, was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "destroying, concealing, or altering criminal evidence."
