Secret documents between Assad and Israel revealed: Details of cooperation shared

Following the end of the 61-year Baath rule in Syria, it has been alleged that there are documents revealing the existence of a secret communication mechanism between the Assad administration and Israel.

The agreement between Israel and Syria was leaked to the public through documents published by Al-Majalla magazine, which belongs to the Saudi Research and Publishing Company.

Although the Assad administration has projected an image of an anti-Israel resistance leader for years, it was noted that the documents reveal the existence of mutual interest-based relations behind this stance. It is understood that Israel warned Syria to end its cooperation with Iran and Hezbollah, and that these warnings were conveyed through secret contacts maintained under the auspices of Russia.

IRAN AND HEZBOLLAH ACTIVITIES IN ISRAEL'S CROSSHAIRS

The revealed documents showed that Israel closely monitored the Syrian army's cooperation with Hezbollah and Iran, and issued warnings that serious sanctions would be imposed if this relationship continued.

The documents included details of the attacks Israel carried out against targets belonging to Iran and Hezbollah in 2022. It was stated that weapons depots, military bases, and air defense systems were hit in these attacks, and it was emphasized that the main goal was to stop the shipment of weapons from Iran to Syria and Lebanon.

In a document transmitted in June 2022 by an Israeli agent codenamed "Musa," details of eight aircraft shipments from Iran to Syria were shared. It was stated that Iran Airlines and Ilyushin-type aircraft were used in the shipments and that the weapons were transferred from Latakia to warehouses in Syria.

Israel's stern warnings in this document stand out:

"While supporting the Hezbollah and Iran axis, you are causing harm to the Syrian army. If this cooperation continues, we will be forced to take action, even though we do not want to harm the Syrian army."

WARNINGS REGARDING JERUSALEM DAY AND HAMAS

In another document, it was revealed that Israel issued warnings regarding Hamas operating on Syrian soil within the scope of "Jerusalem Day" events. The documents showed that Israel closely followed all pro-Iranian and Hamas-linked activities within Syria.
