Security officer assaults football player

In Şırnak, a police officer responsible for field security headbutted a Cizre Botan Spor player during a scuffle between Cizre Botan Spor and Silopigücü Gençlik Spor players.

Yesterday in Şırnak, Cizre Botan Spor and Silopigücü Gençlik ve Spor faced off at the Şırnak City Stadium in a play-off match to qualify for the Regional Amateur League (BAL).

After Silopigücü Gençlik Spor won the match 1-0 to become champions, a fight broke out among the players. Police teams entered the field to intervene and prevent the tension from escalating.

While some police officers were trying to calm the players down, an argument broke out between a player and the police officer serving as a bodyguard for Police Chief Şuayip Öğdür. During the argument, the security officer was seen losing his temper and headbutting the player.

Footage of the moment the police officer headbutted the player quickly became a trending topic on social media.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

An investigation has been launched into the police officer who assaulted the player during the incidents that occurred after the Regional Amateur League (BAL) play-off final match between Cizre Botanspor and Silopigücü Gençlikspor in Şırnak.

In a statement regarding the incident, the Şırnak Governor's Office said, "An investigation has been opened into the police officer who used disproportionate force while attempting to separate the parties and calm the situation following a dispute that turned into a physical altercation between the players and technical staff of both clubs after the play-off match played between Silopi Gücü Sports Club and Cizre Botan Sports Club on April 30, 2025."
