Shock for the Polat family: Up to 16 years in prison requested

The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has completed the comprehensive tax investigation conducted into companies belonging to the Polat family.

In the prepared indictment, based on an expert report, it was stated that 15 companies caused a total public loss of 510 million liras.

REQUEST FOR PRISON SENTENCE

In the indictment, a prison sentence of up to 40 years was requested for Engin Polat on the grounds that he was an authorized official in 5 companies and committed the crimes of issuing and using fake invoices. For Dilan Polat, a prison sentence of up to 16 years was requested for the same charges through the 2 companies where she was an authorized official.

OTHER SUSPECTS ALSO ON THE LIST

In the investigation into the Polat family, not only Engin and Dilan Polat but also family members and business partners were included as suspects.

Sezgin Polat: Request for up to 32 years in prison

Ahmet Gün (Financial Advisor): Request for up to 40 years in prison

Kürşat Polat and Tolunay Topa: Request for up to 8 years in prison each

In the indictment, it was determined that the companies caused a loss to the state through the issuance and use of fake invoices. In the expert report, it was stated that the public loss was examined in detail and recorded as a total of 510 million liras.

THEY HAD BEEN RELEASED

The couple Engin and Dilan Polat, who were previously detained as part of the tax irregularity investigation, had been released shortly after their arrest. However, with this new indictment, the trial process is back on the agenda.
