Despite a 49 percent increase in the minimum wage as of 2024, the purchasing power of the minimum wage has declined by nearly 14 liras over the past 7 months.

While there has been significant activity in Ankara's political circles regarding the issue in recent days, Chief Social Security Institution (SGK) Expert İsa Karakaş has provided a date and a figure for the minimum wage.

Social Security Institution (SGK) Chief Expert İsa Karakaş commented that although there has been no official statement from the government regarding the minimum wage, the government can no longer delay an additional increase to the minimum wage.

According to a report on Mynet, Karakaş stated that an additional increase to the minimum wage will be made by September and that this increase could reach 3,500 Turkish Liras.

According to İsa Karakaş's forecast, an additional raise to the minimum wage is expected by September, with the minimum wage projected to be increased to over 20 thousand liras.

Karakaş interpreted the government's lack of an official statement regarding the minimum wage as a move to avoid raising expectations among the working class.
