Son of firefighter who died in blaze cries out: 'Father, what will I do without you?'
The funeral for Eyüp Dereli, who died in the line of duty during a fire in Eskişehir, was held with the participation of Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, while the cries of his relatives broke hearts.
His young son, who did not leave his father's coffin and did not let go of his picture for a moment, cried out, "Dad, what will I do without you?"
Ten personnel, including bulldozer operator Eyüp Dereli, were killed after being trapped in the flames while responding to a forest fire in the Seyitgazi district.
Dereli's body, which had been sent to the Ankara Forensic Medicine Institute, was brought to Eskişehir.
A funeral ceremony was held at Reşadiye Mosque following the afternoon prayer.
In addition to Dereli's relatives, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, Eskişehir Governor Hüseyin Aksoy, members of the protocol, and numerous citizens attended the ceremony.
Minister Yumaklı tried to console the grieving family, who wept for minutes while embracing Dereli's coffin, which was draped in the Turkish flag.
"DAD, WHAT WILL I DO WITHOUT YOU"
The cries of the relatives of the fallen Eyüp Dereli broke hearts.
It was observed that Dereli's father and twin brother had difficulty standing.
His son did not leave the side of the coffin. The grieving child, who did not let go of his father's photograph for a moment, cried out, "Dad, what will I do without you?"
When the coffin was placed in the hearse, citizens nearby tried to calm the child, who this time clung to the vehicle and wept.
Eyüp Dereli, who was laid to rest amidst tears, was taken to the Kanlıpınar Martyrs' Cemetery to be buried.
