Statement from Muazzez Abacı's daughter regarding her mother's death: She had an adverse reaction

In an interview, Aslı Abacı said, "We took my mother to the hospital with a heart attack two weeks ago. We were there immediately, very early. An angiography was performed right away.

Her coronary artery was opened. She was very good for a day or two. She was quite well. However, due to a complication from that angiography, other organs were also affected. She just couldn't recover. In other words, her kidneys and heart somehow couldn't work in harmony. After that, we had to move her to intensive care.

She was so full of life.

In a way we never could have imagined, she struggled quite a bit in the last two days.

Unfortunately, we lost her when her heart, in particular, started to fail," she said.

When asked whether the hospital was negligent in the incident, Abacı replied, "Nothing that was done was intentional, of course. I have also started hearing recently that such complications can occur in many people after an angiography. Antibiotic treatment was started.

My mother had an adverse reaction to that antibiotic. They did everything they could to help. Everything was done.

I also told my mother every day, 'Whenever you want, if you say you want to go home, we will go immediately.' She said, 'No, let's stay.' Of course, this was the first time she struggled this much. She said, 'This heart attack is very difficult.'"

Aslı Saba Abacı expressed her gratitude for the assistance provided by the American Diyanet Center and the Ministry of Culture regarding the efforts to send her mother's body to Turkey, stating, "I have been trying for two days to ensure we return to Turkey on the same plane."

Following the completion of the preparations, Abacı's body will be brought to the airport in Washington to be sent to Istanbul via Turkish Airlines. Muazzez Abacı's funeral ceremony in Turkey is expected to be held in Ankara on Monday, November 17. It is anticipated that the famous artist's fans and the art community will attend the ceremony in large numbers.

Muazzez Abacı suffered a heart attack while in the US visiting her daughter, Aslı Saba Abacı, and had been fighting for her life in intensive care after being hospitalized. The news of Abacı's death was announced on November 12 by her manager, Taner Budak.

In a statement made on October 31, Budak had stated that Abacı had undergone an angiography due to a heart condition the previous week and had a stent placed, and reported that the contrast fluid administered to Abacı during the angiography had caused problems in her kidneys.
