Striking confession from the father of the late Nihal Candan: If I had known, I would not have allowed it

Following the death of social media influencer Nihal Candan on June 21 due to anorexia nervosa, her family has been plunged into deep grief. Prof. Dr. Hakan Candan, who is mourning the loss of his daughter, spoke through tears during a live broadcast, expressing his devastation with the words, "Our pain is indescribable."

The father, unable to hold back his tears during the live broadcast, made striking statements regarding his daughters' journey to fame.

"MY DAUGHTER'S BONE MARROW HAD DRIED UP"

Stating that Nihal would not even accept an IV drip because it contained sugar, the grieving father said, "This phenomenon we call virtual reality triggered Nihal's death. Nihal did not even accept that she was on the verge of death. Despite what the doctors said, she kept saying, 'I am fine.' She even blocked the IV drip because it had sugar in it; she didn't want it."

"I FOUND OUT THEY JOINED THE COMPETITION AFTER THE FACT"

Prof. Dr. Hakan Candan emphasized that he was not informed about his daughters' decision to enter the television world, stating, "My children were very well-mannered. However, they changed under the influence of fame. If I had known in advance that they were joining that competition, I definitely would not have allowed it. But the contracts had already been signed. Their mother was more lenient and said 'yes' to the children more often."

Describing the change that occurred after fame as "terrifying," Candan stated that he felt great discomfort from what he watched on screen, saying, "Terrible scenarios were being staged on those shows for the sake of ratings. There was literal violence. We were a normal family until the competition entered our lives. I became unable to recognize my own children."

"I MOVED TO ISTANBUL TO PROTECT MY CHILDREN"

The academic father, who lived in Konya, stated that he came to Istanbul to protect his daughters, saying, "On days when I didn't have classes, I constantly went to Istanbul to try and save them from this system. The reason for my separation from their mother was also our differences of opinion on this matter. I was stricter, while their mother was more flexible. This difference tore us apart."

"I AM AFRAID FOR BAHAR"

Candan expressed that his greatest concern is Bahar, saying, "Bahar was very affected. I am afraid that she might meet the same tragic end. I constantly video call her and try to stay by her side. But the provocative types around her worry me. I am also calling out to mothers and fathers: Sometimes you need to know how to say 'No' to your children's mistakes. Otherwise, the consequences can be very heavy."

Father Candan also touched upon the change in his daughters' personalities, saying, "Nihal was very gentle, kind, and sensitive. Bahar had a tougher structure.
