Striking İmamoğlu detail in presidential election poll: His closest rival is no longer Erdoğan!
In Metropoll's 'Pulse of Turkey' research, a question was asked regarding the second preference in presidential elections. While Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu ranked first, it was observed that there is a 20-point difference between Erdoğan and İmamoğlu when it comes to the second preference.
While the opposition began calling for early elections immediately after the March 31 local elections, the government side states that the presidential elections will be held on time.
Metropoll asked participants of its September 2024 Pulse of Turkey survey, "Who would be your second choice in the presidential elections?"
The preference of 27.6 percent of the participants was IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, whose name is mentioned among the opposition's presidential candidates, ranked second with 21.9 percent.
President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reached 7.4 percent, followed by former HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş with 4.3 percent.
The rate of those who said they have no opinion drew attention at 38.8 percent.
Regarding the data from Metropoll, "İmamoğlu appears to be the intersection set of the general electorate.
He used the phrase, "It is the most popular person for the second choice at 28 percent."
