Teacher landlord kills tenant in fight: Allegedly beat him over 500 TL

The incident occurred in the Savruk Plateau of the Kuytucak neighborhood. According to allegations, the landlord, Yener R., demanded 500 TL from his tenant of 4 years, 70-year-old Hüseyin Başak, for a water heater repair.

Başak refused to pay, stating that the water heater was not in use. The argument, which began yesterday, escalated into a fight in the village square today.

Landlord Yener R. and his wife beat Başak, a father of 3, with a stick and an iron crowbar. After the fight, Başak returned to his home and fell ill shortly thereafter.

Upon notification, medical teams arrived and determined that the elderly man had passed away. District Gendarmerie Command teams at the scene struggled to calm the grieving family.

During the investigation by the prosecutor and gendarmerie teams, it was determined that there were signs of battery on Başak's body. The body of the deceased was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the exact cause of death.

It was learned that the suspect, who fled by vehicle with his wife and children after the incident, had previously served as a vice principal at a vocational high school in the district and has since returned to teaching.

An operation has been launched to apprehend the suspect teacher and his wife.
